Final week with the MishMash Crew

5 Holiday Fashion Mistakes

If you've ever dressed up shinier than a Christmas tree or turned down last-minute party invitations because you had nothing to wear, you'll know that the holiday season is loaded with chances for fashion disasters.
With a little help and preparation, you can learn how to avoid common holiday fashion mistakes and look your prettiest this year.

Wearing Too Much Glitz

Beading, metallic and shimmer are all fine for the holidays. In fact, most women wait until a good party to break out all of the glitzy finery. But too much shine can overwhelm anyone, especially if you wear it in areas that you don't necessarily want to highlight (like a beaded chest sweater for a busty gal).

Showing Too Much Skin

Thigh-high miniskirts and cut-to-the-navel dresses may look great on the runway, but in reality they are almost impossible to carry off. Not only is it possible to dress sexy while leaving lots to the imagination, it's also the best way to look your prettiest for the holidays. The secret here is to accentuate your best features with a suggestion: a lace trimmed camisole under a blazer hints at great cleavage, a small slit on a skirt gives a glimpse at gorgeous legs, a halter dress shows off toned arms.

Getting Caught With Nothing to Wear

Nothing is worse than being invited to a fabulous party and having nothing to wear. By keeping a few dressy basics in your closet you can always be prepared for last-minute invitations. You can even re-wear the items and make them look totally different just with accessories.

Making It Too Complicated

No wonder women approach the holidays with dread: trying to coordinate outfits, gifts, travel and parties can overload even the most organized woman.Instead of trying to match up dressy separates, try a little black dress this season. Not only is it universally flattering, it will take you to almost any event in style. Just add accessories and you're set.

Being Under or Over Dressed

You show up in jeans, everyone else wears velvet; you wear a long dress and others wear business clothes. You're not alone if you have trouble deciphering dress codes on a party invitation: most people get confused by designations as ambiguous as "Dressy Casual" or "Cocktail Attire." A few dressy items span several categories -- such as the little black dress for her or dark suit for him -- both of which can attend everything from semi-formal to cocktail parties.

Fred Claus

Everybody has that one relative who can't help but cause problems over the holidays. Even Santa. ... Meet Fred.

Director: David Dobkin
Writer: Dan Fogelman
Starring: Vince Vaughn, Paul Giamatti, Miranda Richard,
Kathy Bates, Kevin Spacey
Genre: Comedy

Fred Claus (Vince Vaughn) has lived almost his entire life in his little brother's very large shadow. Fred tried, but he could never live up to the example set by the younger Nicholas (Paul Giamatti), who was just a perfect... well... Saint. True to form, Nicholas grew up to be the model of giving, while Fred became the polar opposite: a repo man who then steals what he repossesses.

Now Fred's dirty dealings have landed him in jail. Over Mrs. Claus's objections, Nicholas agrees to bail his big brother out on one condition: that he come to the North Pole and work off his debt making toys.

The trouble is that Fred isn't exactly elf material and, with Christmas fast approaching, this one bad seed could jeopardize the jolliest holiday of the year. Has Fred finally pushed his little brother to the brink? This time, what Fred may have stolen is Christmas itself, and it is going to take more than Rudolph to set things right.

Hey its a tie! No wait... It's a tee-shirt with a tie printed on it. Ever had this occur to you before? We've seen it around campus quite often and this time, it's FAKE Print t-shirts that rule our campus grounds.

The most common ones are those with "fake" ties printed on them.

Bulletproof vest for added protection? LOL

And then there are also the zany ones for them superhero wannabes. We haven't caught anyone in these yet!

Oh and even one of the DJs was caught in a fake tie tee... *hint hint* the one on the left

Ryan Seacrest jokes that America Ferrera looks like she is 14 years old, and we, too, can't help but wonder if she's actually headed for her quinceañera (the Spanish equivalent of a Sweet 16). This strapless number, in a pedestrian shade of blue, looks like it's from a Forever 21sales bin, not a designer showroom.

In Mourning?? Blame it on her recent breakup—Hayden Panettiere just isn't in the groove tonight. Then again, could anyone have pulled off this voluminous, peach-colored Marc Bouwer gown? Nothing against the sexy neckline, but Hayden could be hiding an entire cheerleading squad beneath this bulky skirt.

Talk about getting dressed in the dark. Kyra Sedgwick tries for high fashion and a touch of mod with a black feathered skirt and ultrastructured bell top by Oscar de la Renta. Sorry, but a lampshade on your torso does not a fashion luminary make, Mrs. Bacon

Someone needs to remind Paris Hilton that she needs to take a vacation from making an appearance on our diss list more than once! Seems like she's going on a vacation alright. A ski trip! But she could do without the fashion disaster, on her trip.

American Idol judge Paula Abdul seems to be re-enacting something familiar. Straight up, now tell us, Paula, did u wear this Janet Jackson wadrobe-malfunction-wannabe dress to revive your singing career? Or to get Justin Timberlake?

Gift ideas for men –extending beyond fashion

It is very easy to make hinting around tactful and sneaky. Ask your man for ideas on the other men in your life. Your father, your brothers, his father, are all great sources for ideas.

If he gives you his opinion or gift idea, it may be something that he is secretly yearning for. Call his closest friends and find out what he has been talking about or if he has mentioned wanting anything.

Cater to his past times and hobbies that he enjoys. Find out if there are new products available in the sport that he enjoys, this is always a safe bet.

  • CDs of his favourite bands
  • Are you constantly on your guy's case about dressing a little nicer? Then how about taking matters into your own hands and getting him something functional, yet stylin'? Your guy will be thankful you took notice of his hurtin' wardrobe.
  • Homemade Gifts for Your Boyfriend. As the saying goes, "It's the thought that counts!" Even if you're strapped for cash this year, you can still give your guy a great homemade gift. Sometimes the best gifts are the ones that people make especially for you!
  • If your guy loves sports, get him a soccer ball, hockey stick or basketball shoes. For those of you who are lookin' to spend a little extra dosh, consider picking up a cool board that your guy can use this season cuz there are a ton of different snowboards on the market. Whether he's carving snow or barreling down the street, you'll certainly be in his thoughts while he's off boarding.
  • wallet, ties, shoes, belts, your photo?

What NOT to Get Your Boyfriend
# A scented candle.
# Socks - he'll get those from his mom, aunt or grandma.
# A gift certificate for a pedicure because YOU think he has gnarly feet.
# Anything with a heart on it.

Serena Williams
The Louis Vuitton gala at L.A.'s MOCA was a major style soiree, and Serena Williams fit right in with a classic cocktail frock, strappy sandals and sleek, straight hair. It's quite possibly the prettiest we've ever seen her. Goes to show that simple can still be fabulous.

Sharon Stone
Quickly, someone help Sharon Stone! She's being attacked by a wild animal at AmFAR's Inaugural Cinema Against AIDS benefit in Rome. It's too bad about the beast, because we like the rest of the ensemble—metallic evening dress and chunky accessories—but that overpowering animal fur's got to go.

Kelly Osbourne
Kelly Osbourne shouldn't ever return to L.A. We mean this in the nicest way possible—the reality star turned stage actress looks so divine in this vintage-inspired ensemble at the National TV Awards in the U.K. that we think she'd be crazy to come back to the land of the cookie-cutter blondes. Sorry babe, but you belong abroad.

Renée Zellweger

How can Renée Zellweger go from gracious screen goddess to this? And we're not even talking about the feather duster attached to her chest. It looks like she just walked out of the shower, slipped into this black cocktail frock and made her way to the Bee Movie premiere without a thought to hair and makeup. Sorry, doll, it's back to the dressing room mirror for you.

Jennifer Hudson

Ruffles and curls and bounce, oh my. Jennifer Hudson goes overboard on the details with her big hair and flouncy shirt at the 7th Annual Avon Foundation Awards in NYC. Hey, Jen, ease up on the extras and let your own curves shine through, why don't you?

Here are few tips that make you a noticeable personality in the crowd and your body healthy, sexy and overall beautiful.

10. If you take shower too long or a bit long, the dead skin of your body automatically gets removed. Don-t rub your body with towel. Be gentle on your skin.

A classic Disney animated fairy tale meets with the modern, live-action romantic comedy in Walt Disney Pictures' "Enchanted."

Featuring an all-star cast, the film follows the beautiful princess Giselle (Amy Adams) as she is banished by an evil queen (Susan Sarandon) from her magical, musical animated land and finds herself in the gritty reality of the streets of modern-day Manhattan.

Shocked by this strange new environment that doesn't operate on a "happily ever after" basis, Giselle is now adrift in a chaotic world badly in need of enchantment.

But when Giselle begins to fall in love with a charmingly flawed divorce lawyer (Patrick Dempsey) who has come to her aid -- even though she is already promised to a perfect fairy tale prince (James Marsden) back home - she has to wonder: can a storybook view of romance survive in the real world?

Double-tee top - A layered look with one T-shirt over another.

Tankini - A two piece bathing suit with the upper portion resembling a tank top.
